Four Astronauts Begin Six-Month Mission Aboard International Space Station as SpaceX’s “Endeavour” Docks Successfully

The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, named “Endeavour,” successfully docked at the International Space Station (ISS), signaling the start of a six-month mission for four astronauts. The astronauts, including NASA’s Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, embarked on their journey to the ISS from Florida on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

Under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, this marks the eighth standard ISS crew rotation mission. The program, which has contracted SpaceX for crew rotation missions, ensures a continuous human presence on the station and enables vital research to be conducted.

During their stay, the astronauts will be conducting over 200 experiments, aiming to answer crucial scientific questions. These experiments will explore the effects of microgravity on stem cells and plants, as well as the potential for microalgae to aid in carbon dioxide removal.

The crew joined Expedition 70 on the space station, which already includes NASA astronauts Jasmin Moghbeli and Loral O’Hara, European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andreas Mogensen, JAXA astronaut Furukawa Satoshi, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Konstantin Borisov, Oleg Kononenko, and Nikolai Chub. With a total of 11 crew members, the ISS will continue to be a hub for scientific exploration until Crew-7 returns to Earth.
