**Bajaj Finance and HDFC Group Top Survey’s List of Companies Behind Most Spam Calls**
According to a recent survey report by Local Circles, **Bajaj Finance** and **HDFC Group** are identified as the top companies responsible for flooding people’s phones with spam calls. The survey gathered responses from more than 12,000 participants, with a staggering 40% stating that they receive the highest number of unsolicited calls from **Bajaj Finance** alone.
The survey also revealed that 15% of respondents reported receiving spam calls from **HDFC Life Insurance**, while 12% pointed out **HDFC Bank** and 4% mentioned **Kotak Mahindra Bank**. These findings shed light on the persistent issue of spam calls plaguing the lives of many individuals.
Furthermore, the study indicated that approximately 60% of the respondents receive an average of three or more spam calls daily over the past year. Though this figure has slightly decreased from 66% in February 2023, it suggests that the measures implemented by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to curb spam calls have had some impact.
However, despite these efforts, an astonishing 90% of the over 11,000 respondents admitted to receiving spam calls despite being registered on the Do-Not-Disturb (DND) list. This highlights the inefficiency of the list in preventing such intrusive calls.
The survey collected responses from over 60,000 participants across 378 districts in India, with a gender split of 64% men and 36% women. The large number of participants signifies the widespread concern regarding this issue.
In response to the ongoing problem of unsolicited commercial messages and calls, the upcoming Telecommunication Act, 2023, will introduce legal provisions to protect users. These provisions will require senders to obtain prior consent from users before contacting them and establish an online mechanism for addressing grievances related to telecommunication services.
**As the menace of spam calls continues to disrupt the lives of individuals across India, authorities are taking steps to safeguard people’s privacy and provide relief from this intrusive practice.**
