While Okosix currently focuses on manufacturing biodegradable face masks, the company plans to extend its material use to surgical gowns, diapers, and sanitary napkins. Their goal is to replace fossil-fuel-based plastics in disposable healthcare products with safe, non-plastic alternatives. Though a formal lifecycle analysis is pending, Okosix anticipates that its material’s carbon footprint will be approximately 90% lower than polypropylene, a widely used single-use plastic.
