Google Introduces Gemini-Powered Google Home Speaker for Spring 2026
On Wednesday, Google provided an early preview of its upcoming flagship smart home device: the Google Home speaker powered by its latest AI assistant, Gemini AI. Scheduled for launch in spring 2026, the new speaker is priced at $99 and will be available in four color options: Porcelain, Hazel, Berry, and Jade.
Strategic Launch Timing to Prioritize Existing Users
Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer at Google Home and Nest, explained that the delayed release is a deliberate strategy. Google intends to first deploy Gemini AI functionality to existing Google Home customers on older devices, allowing them to access Early Access features, provide feedback, and help identify bugs before the new hardware launch.
“It’s got to work for the existing users. We don’t want to force you to buy a new one unless you want to,” Kattukaran said. “And by the way, we think you may want to, but you don’t need to.”
Advanced AI and Audio Technology Powered by Gemini
The new Google Home speaker is engineered with a processor capable of running Gemini AI locally. This integration enhances capabilities such as background noise suppression, reverb management, and echo cancellation, ensuring clear voice recognition even in multi-speaker environments. Additionally, the device features a light ring that provides dynamic visual feedback, indicating when Gemini is listening, processing, reasoning, or responding. This feature will be accessible in Gemini Live mode, which requires a Google Home Premium subscription.
Immersive Audio and Multi-Device Integration
The speaker delivers 360-degree audio and supports grouping multiple Google Home devices to play synchronized audio via the Google Home app. A new feature enables pairing two Google Home speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create a surround sound setup, addressing long-standing user requests.
Eco-Friendly Design with 3D-Knitted Fabric
The exterior of the device is crafted from 3D-knitted material designed to reduce fabric waste, underscoring Google’s commitment to sustainability in its hardware manufacturing.
Global Launch Plans
Google plans to release the new Google Home speaker in spring 2026 across key markets including the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Nordic countries, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
FinOracleAI — Market View
