The Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries is set to open its casino operations in June. Churchill Downs Inc. has made new commitments and investments to the Dumfries community, including a minimum hourly wage of $15 for non-tipped positions and local employment opportunities. Plans include the installation of 1800 gaming machines, 8 bars and restaurants, 305 hotel rooms, and over 2500 parking spaces. The unveiling of additional facilities, such as a public park and green space, has been delayed, sparking discussions of compensation for the town of Dumfries.
