Best Upcoming Superhero Games

Nearly a dozen different superhero games are in development at studios around the globe. Today, we’ll be counting down what we think are the 5 best upcoming superhero games. It goes without saying that if we happen to miss any of the games you’re anxiously waiting for, feel free to drop their names in the comments at the end.

Wonder Woman: A Promising Open-World Adventure

Release Date: TBC

Monolith Productions went dark after the release of Middle-earth: Shadow of War in 2017. Since then, we’ve only seen a single teaser of their next project, Wonder Woman.

Details are non-existent at the moment, but we know for a fact it’s going to be an open-world action-adventure game bringing to life Wonder Woman, her rogue’s gallery, and her invisible jet if you could believe it – can’t wait to see the textures on that thing.

Plus, given how groundbreaking their Nemesis system was, many are excited to see how it evolves in Wonder Woman.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – A Villainous Delight

Release Date: January 30, 2024 (Early Access)

Supervillains to be exact, but you get the gist of it. Not including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (KTJL) in this list of the best upcoming superhero games would be criminal since it’s going to have the Arkhamverse’s entire Justice League in it.

It’s been a rocky ride for KTJL, albeit recent showcases of the gunslinger gameplay, Metropolis, and a week in beta testing have led to some positive reviews. There’s no knowing how good it’ll actually be, but the previews are looking fun if nothing else – fingers crossed.

Suicide Squad: KTJL will also feature the late Kevin Conroy’s last appearance as Batman, another reason for long-time fans to look forward to.

Iron Man: Motive Studio’s Take on the Iconic Hero

Release Date: TBC

If you remember the Dead Space Remake from early 2023, you might be surprised to find out that the same studio is now working on an Iron Man game.

This will be Motive Studio’s first original single-player IP, so we aren’t sure what to expect. Iron Man isn’t exactly a small character either. It’s hard to imagine Motive will be able to pull off something as amazing as the likes of the Spider-Man games, but we’re hoping for the best. Regardless of how it turns out, we’re certainly excited, and Marvel’s Iron Man surely makes our list of the best upcoming superhero games.

Wolverine: Insomniac’s Latest Marvel Masterpiece

Release Date: TBC

The teaser has had fans of Logan in a chokehold since 2021 and the recent launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has just added to the anticipation tenfold.

The script, gameplay, and even a playable development build may have leaked, but Wolverine still remains one of the best upcoming superhero games.

It feels wrong quoting material from the leaks, though, to Insomniac’s credit, Wolverine is shaping up marvelously. The unfortunate leaks have dealt a terrible blow to the studio, however, with the quality Insomniac is known to deliver, another couple of years for Marvel’s Wolverine will be worth the wait.

Blade: Arkane’s Shot at Redemption

Release Date: TBC

Arkane fumbled big time with Redfall but technically that was the Austin branch and Blade’s being developed by Lyon, the Paris branch of Arkane that made Deathloop.

Excluding Redfall, Arkane’s track record is beyond comparison and Dishonored 2 is proof of that. However, Xbox acquiring the studio and the epic disaster of Redfall – which some people blame the acquisition for – have left the relationship of Arkane with the fans in shambles. On the other hand, Blade does show promise and it may be the redemption both the fans and Arkane itself is searching for.
