Bilibili Gaming’s Hopes Dashed as Korea’s Accomplished Coach Assists Defeat at VCT CN KICKOFF

Bilibili Gaming’s debut at VCT CN KICKOFF did not go as planned, as a nail-biting 0.13-second defuse denied them a potential victory and ultimately eliminated them from qualifying for Madrid. The team had the guidance of one of Korea’s most accomplished coaches, Lee “bail” Sung-jae, who joined them last month.

During the tournament, bail was seen assisting Bilibili Gaming in the team room, alongside a Korean-Chinese translator. He was caught on camera chatting with players, including the team’s recent addition and in-game leader, Yang “B3Ar” Zhanxiong. The conversation seemed to be focused on reassuring B3Ar not to feel overly pressured.

However, it is important to note that the head coaching responsibility still lies with Li “Xpz” Zhiqiang, as he was present in the coaching room during the match. The status of bail’s future with Bilibili Gaming for the upcoming Stage 1 of VCT CN remains unknown, as there has been no official announcement regarding his role.

Bail brings considerable experience to Bilibili Gaming, having previously served as the coach for Gen.G during the entire 2023 VCT Pacific season in Seoul. Prior to that, he led NORTHEPTION, representing Japan at VALORANT Masters Copenhagen. The coach also briefly coached ODG Esports Club during the China Evolution Series Act II and III.

Bail is best known as a former member of the legendary Korean CS 1.6 roster of WeMade FOX. It’s worth mentioning that all four of his former teammates from that period have now transitioned into coaching Korean VALORANT teams at the highest level.

Despite their disappointing finish, Bilibili Gaming showed promise in the competition, ending with a fifth-place finish. Unfortunately, they fell short in the decisive Play-In match against Trace Esports, losing 2-1 in a hard-fought battle.

Should bail’s stay with Bilibili Gaming become permanent, their roster for future competitions could see the inclusion of the following players:

  • Wang “whz” Haozhe
  • Zhong “Biank” Jianfei
  • Liu “Knight” Yuxiang
  • Wang “yosemite” Lei
  • Yang “B3Ar” Zhanxiong

Head coach: Li “Xpz” Zhiqiang

Coach: Wang “JeXeN” Linxiao

Coach: Lee “bail” Sung-jae

As Bilibili Gaming reflects on their performance and looks ahead to the next stage, fans eagerly await any official announcements regarding the team’s coaching staff and plans for the future.
