Scammers Flood Amazon with Shady Products, AI-Crafted Descriptions
A recent report by Ars Technica has highlighted the influx of shady products flooding Amazon’s marketplace, with descriptions created using artificial intelligence (AI). These scammers are using large language models (LLMs), such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, to generate product descriptions quickly and easily. However, this practice does not violate Amazon’s use policy. One example found in the report was a table and chair set whose description read, “Our can be used for a variety of tasks, such [task 1], [task 2], and [task 3].” This flood of AI-generated descriptions showcases the lack of care and attention scammers exhibit when spamming the marketplace.
