Two More Arrested in String of Thefts at Berkeley Apple Store
BERKELEY — Following the arrest of three individuals for stealing iPhones from the Fourth Street Apple Store, two additional suspects were apprehended on Thursday for stealing more electronic devices from the same store earlier in the day. The thefts occurred around 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, when two men entered the store and stole 16 iPhones, six iPads, and four MacBooks. The suspects then fled in a silver Honda before the police could respond. However, a witness managed to provide the license plate number for the vehicle, which was later stopped by Vacaville police and resulted in the arrest of the two suspects. Unfortunately, the stolen items were not recovered at the time of the arrest.
Possible Connection to Previous Thefts Unclear, Police Say
At this point, the police have not been able to establish any concrete connection between the recent thefts at the Fourth Street Apple Store. Although two separate incidents occurred within a short time frame, there is no evidence to suggest that the perpetrators were acting in coordination. The investigations into both theft incidents are ongoing.
One Suspect Charged, Others Await Formal Charges
According to court records, one of the suspects involved in the Wednesday thefts, Tyler Mims, has been formally charged. Mims, 22, who holds addresses in both Berkeley and Sacramento, is also believed to be involved in several thefts at the Emeryville Apple store. On Monday, surveillance footage captured Mims stuffing 50 iPhones, worth approximately $49,000, into his pants before fleeing the scene. He is currently being held at Santa Rita Jail on a bail of $420,000 and is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday. No charges have been filed yet against the other two suspects.
Stolen Items Not Recovered in Recent Arrests

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working diligently to locate and retrieve the stolen devices. The stolen items have an estimated value of several thousand dollars, making their recovery a priority for law enforcement officials.
