Kettering Residents Encouraged to Download ‘what3words’ App for Emergency Situations
Kettering, a city in Montgomery County, is urging its residents to download the ‘what3words’ app, a location-finding tool that can be critical in emergency situations. The app’s Chief Marketing Officer, Giles Rhys Jones, explains that the app divides the world into 57 trillion squares, each measuring 10 feet by 10 feet, and assigns a unique three-word code to each square. These codes can be given to first responders, allowing them to quickly and accurately navigate to the specific location. The app is especially useful in emergency situations, as it works offline using GPS signals instead of data connections. Many emergency services have already adopted the app in various areas.
