Royse City ISD Purchasing and Finance Departments Receive Prestigious Awards
Royse City, TX (June 19, 2024) – The Royse City Independent School District (ISD) is celebrating a remarkable achievement. The district has been honored with two esteemed awards by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO): the 2024 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations and the Award of Excellence in Financial Management.
Spotlight on Purchasing Excellence
The Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations was first established in 2009. It acknowledges Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers that adhere to professional standards in acquiring goods and services. Each year, a team of volunteers from the TASBO Purchasing & Supply Management Research Committee evaluates the criteria to ensure they represent the latest best practices. For the year 2024, only 77 recipients in the entire state met the stringent criteria. Considering that Texas has around 1,200 school districts, this award is highly prestigious.
Tracy Ginsburg, the Executive Director of TASBO, commended the winners, saying, “We’re proud of the work our honorees do to streamline school purchasing operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars.” Ginsburg also praised the awardees for sharing their best practices with colleagues throughout Texas.
Excellence in Financial Management
Introduced more recently in 2020, the Award of Excellence in Financial Management is designed for Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers that exhibit professional standards, best practices, and innovations in financial management and reporting. The criteria for this award are based on guidelines identified by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG).
Applicants for this award must submit detailed documents across 11 key areas, which are meticulously reviewed by a TASBO accounting subcommittee. “These organizations have gone above and beyond to demonstrate transparency by meticulously documenting their districts’ policies and procedures,” commented Tracy Ginsburg. She added that by sharing their successful methods, these entities help other educational organizations better utilize taxpayer dollars.
Recognition at the TASBO Conference
Team members of the Royse City ISD were honored at the 2024 TASBO annual conference held in Houston on February 21, 2024. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and commitment to excellence in both purchasing and financial management.
Conclusion
The honor bestowed upon Royse City ISD reflects its dedication to high standards and efficient use of resources, ensuring that every dollar works towards better educational outcomes. Such accolades not only highlight the district's achievements but also set a benchmark for others to follow.
Royse City ISD is proud of this accomplishment and remains committed to upholding these high standards in the future, setting a great example for educational institutions across Texas.
