CBRE Group, Inc. Climbs to No. 3 Spot on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable U.S. Companies List
CBRE Group, Inc. has climbed to the No. 3 spot on Barron’s list of the 100 most sustainable U.S.-based companies for 2024, up from No. 4 last year. This marks the seventh consecutive year that CBRE has been included in the top 100 list.
To determine the rankings, Barron’s evaluates the 1,000 largest U.S.-based publicly traded companies using over 230 environmental, social, and governance performance metrics across five categories: shareholders, employees, customers, community, and the planet. The categories are weighted based on their financial importance to a company’s industry.
In addition to this recognition, CBRE received an A- performance score from CDP for its climate change disclosure in 2023, placing it in CDP’s Leadership band. The Leadership band is reserved for companies that implement best practices in climate change governance. CBRE was acknowledged for its initiatives to reduce emissions, offer low carbon products, manage risks, and address Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Notably, CBRE’s partnership with Emitwise in tackling supply chain decarbonization was highlighted.
Rob Bernard, CBRE’s chief sustainability officer, highlighted the company’s responsibility as the world’s largest commercial property manager to drive sustainability in the commercial real estate industry. He expressed gratitude for the recognition of CBRE’s sustainability efforts and emphasized the company’s focus on developing scalable solutions to shared challenges.
CBRE’s sustainability efforts have also garnered recognition from Forbes, which included the company on its inaugural Net Zero Leaders list as the highest-ranked commercial real estate company. Additionally, CBRE has been listed on 3BL’s annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens ranking for the fifth year in a row.
