Biden’s Funding Sparks New Tribal Electrification Initiative

The Department of the Interior has announced the launch of a new program aimed at helping Tribal communities in the United States electrify their homes. This initiative, which is part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, has an initial funding of $72.5 million. The goal of the program is to electrify all homes in Indian Country with renewable energy sources and contribute to the administration’s objective of achieving a carbon-free electricity sector by 2035. This announcement coincides with the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest climate investment in U.S. history.
