Rightworks Acquires Cyber Security Firm Practice Protect

Rightworks, a leading cloud service provider for accounting firms, has acquired Practice Protect, Australia's top cybersecurity provider for the accounting profession. This strategic move will help firms manage risk, secure client data, and achieve regulatory compliance while using cloud and desktop applications within Rightworks OneSpace.

Strengthening Security and Efficiency

James Buss, founder of Buss CPA, which specializes in accounting for the automotive, construction, and agriculture industries, shared his excitement, saying, "We are looking forward to benefiting from the integration of Practice Protect into the Rightworks portfolio. The security, accessibility, and peace of mind both companies provide will greatly advance the accounting profession."

Rightworks plans to integrate Practice Protect into its OneSpace intelligent cloud, thereby enhancing the security, efficiency, and seamless access that accounting professionals need to thrive. Moreover, for regions outside the US, including Australia and New Zealand, Practice Protect will continue to be offered independently, supported by existing Practice Protect global teams.

A Unified Mission

Joel Hughes, CEO of Rightworks, expressed his enthusiasm, "The addition of the team and technology helps us continue our mission to deliver a secure, purpose-built cloud. This integration gives accounting professionals easy access to all the cloud and desktop applications they need to create a profitable and modern business."

The accounting landscape is evolving, with firms increasingly adopting cloud software for better collaboration and business management. However, cyberattacks remain a significant concern. A recent Rightworks survey revealed that 88% of respondents believe technology significantly improves workplace efficiency and client services, particularly in supporting flexible/remote workers and enhancing firm and client data security.

Global Security Leadership

Jamie Beresford, CEO and Co-Founder of Practice Protect, emphasized the importance of this acquisition, stating, "For several years, we searched for the right U.S.-based partner that prioritizes the accounting profession's interests. Our team is thrilled to be part of Rightworks and to embark on a united mission to protect the profession from expanding cyberthreats targeting both firms and their clients."

Practice Protect is renowned for enabling accounting firms to maintain complete control over the access to client data and passwords with state-of-the-art automation, application security, and human-powered support. With features like device and email security, single sign-on, and one-click offboarding, it is trusted by more accountants worldwide than any other data management tool.

This acquisition marks a significant step forward in protecting accounting firms and their clients against cyberthreats while ensuring smooth access and management of essential applications within a secure and efficient environment.
