Heading into 2024, a Recent Workplace Survey Reveals That 59% of Companies Mandate or Encourage In-Office Work

In a recent workplace survey, it was found that a significant 59% of companies are currently mandating or encouraging their employees to spend more time in the office. The survey additionally revealed that an additional 55% of companies plan to implement similar measures within the next six months.

The 2024 VTS Global Workplace Report has taken an in-depth look at workplace strategy, operations, access, and employee engagement. This insightful report provides valuable information regarding how companies are engaging with office spaces and their current needs.

The report, which is based on a survey of global business leaders, demonstrates a clear commitment to the workplace as the trend of returning to the office gains momentum. Interestingly, only 1% of companies in North America and Europe have transitioned to fully remote work.

The Global Workplace Report examines the redefinition of the workplace and reveals the level of confidence companies have in their workplace plans. It also explores the factors motivating employees to return to the office. One key finding is the increasing demand for flexible spaces and technology to manage daily employee experiences.

Key highlights from the survey include:

– Almost 60% of respondents reported that their employees work from home part of the week.
– Merely 1% of companies have made the transition to fully remote work.
– A staggering 92% of business leaders desire a unified app for building and office access, with 52% wanting mobile access capability.
67% of respondents claimed that their buildings offer adequate collaborative spaces outside the workplace suite.

Companies expressed confidence in the effectiveness of their workplace plans and strategies, including their office layouts.
84% of companies have a positive view of employee satisfaction with workplace policies.
69% believe that their current office size meets their needs.

The report further highlights the key drivers behind employees returning to the office, which are collaboration, community, and productivity.
36% of respondents cited in-person collaboration and community as the top enticements.
49% believe that engagement activities tailored to their company could have a positive impact on employee sentiment.
