U.S. Boiler Company Receives $3.2 Million Investment from Commonwealth to Support Expansion Project
Expansion Project to Create Jobs and Drive Economic Growth in Lancaster
Lancaster, PA – In a move to bolster job growth and economic development, the U.S. Boiler Company has secured a $3.2 million investment from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The funds will support the company's $5.5 million expansion project, which aims to strengthen its manufacturing capacity and create new employment opportunities.
With headquarters in Lancaster for over three decades, the U.S. Boiler Company has chosen to invest in its home state rather than expanding elsewhere, including North Carolina. This decision reflects the favorable business environment and supportive economic policies in Pennsylvania.
Governor Josh Shapiro expressed his enthusiasm for the project and its potential impact on the state's economy. "When strong manufacturers like U.S. Boiler Company choose to grow in Pennsylvania, it sends a clear message around the world that we are open for business and we have what companies need to thrive," said Governor Shapiro. He also emphasized his commitment to making Pennsylvania a leader in job growth and economic development.
The expansion project will result in the creation of at least 15 new jobs and will ensure the retention of 117 existing positions. A 45,000-square-foot manufacturing facility will be constructed in Lancaster, equipped with state-of-the-art production lines, conveyors, and storage racking.
The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has provided significant support to the U.S. Boiler Company for this expansion. The company has received a $3 million loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA), a $177,000 grant from Pennsylvania First, and a $45,000 workforce development grant to train workers.
Christopher Drew, President and CEO of Burnham Holdings Inc., the parent company of U.S. Boiler, expressed his gratitude for the Commonwealth's support. "The Commonwealth's support of this project, which expands USB's production capacity for its best-selling low emission, high-efficiency boiler product, the Alta, is a win for U.S. Boiler and a win for Pennsylvania," he said.
The U.S. Boiler Company's expansion project not only enhances its manufacturing capabilities but also promotes sustainability. The company's Alta boiler product is known for its low emissions and high efficiency, aligning with the growing demand for environmentally-friendly solutions.
Keith Diller, President of U.S. Boiler Company, commended Governor Shapiro for his commitment to Pennsylvania manufacturing. "The Commonwealth's support for our over 200 union and non-union employees is a testament to Governor Shapiro's desire to see Pennsylvania manufacturing grow and flourish," said Diller.
John Biemiller, Director of Business Retention and Expansion for EDC Lancaster County, highlighted the significance of this investment for the local community. "Manufacturing remains the leading sector of Lancaster County's economy, contributing 17.2% of our GDP and 16.7% of our total employment," said Biemiller. "This investment by U.S. Boiler Company strengthens their local operations and further builds the industrial base in this community."
With the infusion of $3.2 million from the Commonwealth, the U.S. Boiler Company is well-positioned to drive economic growth, create additional jobs, and contribute to the development of a vibrant business ecosystem in Pennsylvania.
