Investing in Infrastructure to Enhance Quality of Life in Chandler
Every single day, even in the heat of summer, Chandler children can be spotted at city parks playing on playgrounds, shooting hoops and riding bicycles. They stop for a quick drink at a water fountain, and their parents sit on park benches nearby. Softball and soccer programs bring plenty of feet to fields. It’s a wonderful sight to see.
But behind the scenes, a tremendous amount of care and attention goes into maintaining these parks and playgrounds, ensuring they remain intact and that drinkable water flows through those fountains. That’s why investing in infrastructure is so vital.
The City Council and Mayor are fully committed to investing in what matters, and last month, they approved several infrastructure projects that will significantly improve the quality of life for all residents by enhancing their park experiences.
One of the city’s most important tasks is to maintain access to and improve amenities at all city parks. To achieve this, funding has been allocated for improvements to the aging parking lots at Arrowhead Aquatic Center, Snedigar, and Paseo Vista. Additionally, spending on park maintenance and landscaping has been increased, resulting in more efficient trash pickup, irrigation repairs, and tree planting and trimming. To ensure safe and smooth city streets, additional funding has been allocated for street maintenance, allowing asphalt patching and roadway repairs.
Chandler has always maintained a forward-thinking, thoughtful approach to managing its water supply. This has resulted in a robust, sustainable water portfolio for the city. To preserve and further enhance this precious resource, the City Council recently approved a partnership with SRP. This collaboration will expand the city’s water supply by building a new well on an unutilized Central Arizona Project (CAP) facility, securing Chandler’s access to water for the future.
Of course, Chandler wouldn’t be known as the Community of Innovation without investing in cutting-edge technologies. The City has entered into a new agreement to evaluate the most cost-effective and energy-saving solar solutions for City facilities. This initiative will not only reduce energy costs but will also increase Chandler’s solar footprint, aligning with the city’s commitment to sustainability and the use of clean energy.
