Tesla Making Progress on Supercharger, Diner, and Drive-In Movie Theater Concept in Los Angeles
Tesla is moving forward with its unique Supercharger, diner, and drive-in movie theater concept in Los Angeles, California. Recent drone shots of the East Hollywood Tesla location reveal that the walls of the restaurant building are now going up. The construction site is bustling with activity, with workers placing sealing air barriers on and around the wall structures. The building is taking shape and starting to resemble the "Milliways" restaurant concept that has garnered attention on the internet.
This development follows a series of updates since the site received approval to begin construction in August. Tesla broke ground on the Supercharger in late September, and by November, the interior structures began to take form. The plans for the site suggest that there will be at least 25 electric vehicle charging stations. In addition, two walls across from the restaurant will feature movie screens, allowing patrons to enjoy short clips from classic films. The rooftop and deck level seating, as shown in the recent video, are also starting to come together.
The restaurant concept originated from a conversation with Tesla CEO Elon Musk in 2018. Musk announced on Twitter his plans to create an "old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant" at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in Los Angeles. Tesla later secured the rights to the restaurant category with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. While the company initially intended to build the diner in Santa Monica, it eventually relocated the project to its current site in East Hollywood.
With progress steadily being made, Tesla's Supercharger, diner, and drive-in movie theater concept is quickly becoming a reality. Electric vehicle owners in Los Angeles will soon have a unique and entertaining experience while charging their vehicles.
