LIMA, Peru – Peruvian telecommunications operator WIN is set to enhance the broadband connectivity experience in Lima with the deployment of Huawei’s symmetrical XGSPON technology. The move is expected to revolutionize the fiber optic infrastructure for residential homes and small businesses by offering symmetrical speeds of up to 10Gbps.
At present, WIN’s network relies on GPON technology, which supports speeds of up to 1Gbps. However, the implementation of Huawei’s XGSPON technology is set to bring a significant improvement, ensuring a more reliable and faster internet connection for users.
Víctor Jáuregui, WIN’s Commercial Vice President, expressed the company’s dedication to enhancing connectivity quality throughout Peru. According to industry reports, WIN managed to secure the third position in the local market during the third quarter of 2023, with an impressive user base of 436,093. While trailing behind industry giants Telefónica and Claro, WIN recorded the highest growth rate in the number of users, achieving a remarkable 282% annual increase.
