After a two-month delay, OpenAI’s long-awaited chatbot store is finally here.

Customized Apps Powered by ChatGPT Now Available

As I previously reported would happen, the model developer on Wednesday opened its GPT app store, which allows software developers to distribute customized OpenAI-powered apps for everything from lesson planning for middle school teachers to researching academic papers to practicing new languages.

OpenAI’s GPT Store: Revolutionary Features and Applications

Because the apps are powered by ChatGPT, they can understand users’ commands and questions in a conversational way and connect to outside sources of data, such as email—all of which gives them a leg up over traditional apps. If Apple isn’t already doing so, it now has another reason to hurry up its own generative AI plans.

GPT Store Overwhelmed as Developers Create Millions of Apps

Judging by the error message I got when I tried to open the web-based GPT Store the first time, it’s getting swamped with people trying it out. Developers have created more than 3 million private and public GPT-powered apps, OpenAI has said.

Apple Faces Pressure to Accelerate Generative AI Plans

Apple, one of the leading tech giants, may now feel the pressure to expedite its own generative AI plans as OpenAI’s GPT Store gains traction. With the store offering a wide variety of customizable apps powered by ChatGPT, Apple could potentially miss out on a significant market segment if it doesn’t act swiftly.

The arrival of OpenAI’s chatbot store marks a significant milestone for the advancement of AI-powered applications. Developers now have the opportunity to leverage the power of ChatGPT to create innovative and personalized apps across diverse domains. As the store experiences overwhelming demand, it showcases the growing interest and potential of generative AI. The launch of OpenAI’s GPT Store not only opens new possibilities for developers but also raises the bar for other industry giants like Apple, compelling them to up their game in the race towards conversational AI dominance.
